AMERICA IS BEYOND CORRUPT

Israel plans for war with Iran and Syria

THREATENED by a potentially nuclear-armed Tehran, Israel is preparing for a possible war with both Iran and Syria, according to Israeli political and military sources.

The conflict with Hezbollah has led to a strategic rethink in Israel. A key conclusion is that too much attention has been paid to Palestinian militants in Gaza and the West Bank instead of the two biggest state sponsors of terrorism in the region, who pose a far greater danger to Israel’s existence, defence insiders say.

“The challenge from Iran and Syria is now top of the Israeli defence agenda, higher than the Palestinian one,” said an Israeli defence source. Shortly before the war in Lebanon Major-General Eliezer Shkedi, the commander of the air force, was placed in charge of the “Iranian front”, a new position in the Israeli Defence Forces. His job will be to command any future strikes on Iran and Syria.

The Israeli defence establishment believes that Iran’s pursuit of a nuclear programme means war is likely to become unavoidable.

“In the past we prepared for a possible military strike against Iran’s nuclear facilities,” said one insider, “but Iran’s growing confidence after the war in Lebanon means we have to prepare for a full-scale war, in which Syria will be an important player.”

Israeli police on high alert for spread of Israeli-Arab Acre riots

DEBKAfile Special Report and Analysis

Acre downtown after Yom Kippur Eve Arab rampage

Acre downtown after Yom Kippur Eve Arab rampage

Israeli police have decided to play down the seriousness of the outbreak in the mixed northern town of Acre, which began with a noisy Arab motorist speeding through a Jewish street on Yom Kippur Eve, Oct. 8 and ended with an Arab mob screaming “Itbakh al Yahoud” (Slaughter the Jews)as they smashed and looted Jewish shops.

Party leaders across the board criticized Acre’s mayor Friday for cancelling the annual alternative theater festival next week and police handling of disorders.

The ancient town of some 60,000 souls (of which one-third are Arabs) on Israel’s Mediterranean coast north of Haifa had settled down Wednesday night to pray and fast on the Jewish Day of Atonement, on which vehicular traffic customarily stops all over Israel, when a car driven by an Arab resident hurtled at high speed down a mostly-Jewish street on the eastern side of the town.

Witnesses reported that pedestrians fled in panic from its path. The driver refused requests to turn down his blaring radio, whereupon a group of Jewish youths smashed his car windows. He parked, ran into one of the houses and pelted the crowd outside with household objects and curses.

Fifteen minutes later, four more cars drove up packed with Arab youths. They careened around the predominantly Jewish neighborhood shouting “Allah is Great” and “Death to the Jews.” Meanwhile hundreds of young Arabs swarmed through Acre’s main thoroughfare, Ben-Ami Street, smashing and looting hundreds of Jewish shops. They overturned parked cars and knocked over traffic lights, Hebrew signboards and fences.

The police failed to intervene. In fact only half a dozen cops were on duty, none officers and none Jewish. Reinforcements were on hand Thursday night with tear gas and water cannon to break up fights between Jewish and Arab youths.

After Yom Kippur was over, Thursday night, the police commissioner Dudi Cohen, ordered roadblocks set up to divide the mostly Jewish eastern side from the Arab western districts of the town (a UNESCO-designated World Heritage Site for its rare antiquities)in the same way as he dismissed the earlier bulldozer attacks in Jerusalem as the work of lone individuals.

At the same time, the forces of law and order tensely awaited the Friday sermons at the mosques and went on alert nationwide, both actions implicitly belying his message that the incident was “local” and Jews were equally at fault for causing it.

But the message was quickly interpreted by Arab lawbreakers as meaning they had a good chance of going scot free, which is a sure guarantee that the outbreaks will spread and “Itbakh al Yahud” – heard in the Hebron pogroms of 1929 and again in 1947 – will again ring out in the Israeli streets of 2008.

They will find encouragement in the failure of any Israeli in authority to reprimand them or bring them to book. Not a word of any kind has come from the caretaker prime minister, Ehud Olmert, or his would-be successor Tzipi Livni, both whom obviously have more important fish to fry.

WND senior staff writer Jerome Corsi

A Kenyan publicist who helped arrange a news conference for author Jerome Corsi to talk about his investigation into Democratic presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama's links inside Kenya says he's being grilled by the Kenyan government over what Corsi discovered.

As WND reported, the news conference never took place because immigration authorities detained Corsi and held him until his scheduled British Airways flight out of Nairobi. WND also reported bribes were paid to "various officials" to make Corsi's departure easier.

Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, another powerful Chicago-based political figure associated with the Rev. Jeremiah Wright and other long-time associates of presidential candidate Barack Democratic PartyObama, is leaving no doubt about what he thinks of the leader in the campaign for the White House.

He says when Obama talks "the Messiah is absolutely speaking."

You can watch it for yourself on a newly posted YouTube video.

Addressing a large crowd behind a podium Feb. 24 with a Nation of Islam Saviour's Day 2008 sign, Farrakhan proclaims,

"You are the instruments that God is going to use to bring about universal change, and that is why Barack has captured the youth. And he has involved young people in a political process that they didn't care anything about. That's a sign. When the Messiah speaks, the youth will hear, and the Messiah is absolutely speaking."

Proof Obama backed ruthless, foreign thug
Set up direct Senate contact for Kenyan opposition leader

Sen. Barack Obama designated a personal aide as his direct contact for the 2007 Kenyan presidential campaign of Raila Odinga, who later was appointed prime minister after his election loss was followed by widespread, deadly violence that destroyed or damaged 800 Christian churches, according to e-mails obtained by WND senior staff writer Jerry Corsi during a trip to Kenya.

Corsi attempted to release this and other information at a Tuesday press conference in Nairobi. The WND reporter and No. 1 New York Times bestselling author was detained by Kenya security officers as soon as he entered the hotel to make his presentation. He was held incommunicado and without food for the entire day before being permitted to board his regularly scheduled flight out of the country to London, where he is currently recuperating from the ordeal.

As WND has reported, Obama openly campaigned for Odinga during the Illinois Democrat's 2006 Senate "fact-finding visit" to Kenya.

Odinga called for protests over alleged voter fraud after losing the December 2007 general election. The resulting protest violence left an estimated 1,000 members of the dominant Kikuyu tribe in Kenya dead and an estimated 500,000 displaced from their homes.

The links between Obama and Odinga were documented by copies of two e-mails obtained by Corsi during his meetings in Kenya with various government officials and others.

The e-mails, apparently sent by Obama himself, referenced the senator's aide, Mark Lippert. The e-mails were provided to WND by an insider in Kenya who fled Odinga's Orange Democratic political party and requested anonymity because of the danger of retaliation.

ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION AS AMERICA IMPLODES FROM WITHIN - DOES ANYONE CARE ??

# Transnational immigrant gangs have been spreading rapidly and sprouting in suburban and rural areas where communities are not always equipped to deal with them.

# A very large share of immigrant gang members are illegal aliens and removable aliens. Federal sources estimate that 60 to 90 percent of the members of MS-13, the most notorious immigrant gang, are illegal aliens. In one jurisdiction studied, Northern Virginia, 30 to 40 percent of the gang task force case load were removable aliens.

# MS-13 activity was found in 48 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.

# The immigrant gangsters arrested were a significant menace to the public. About 80 percent had committed serious crimes in addition to their immigration violations and 40 percent were violent criminals.

# While immigration law enforcement is a federal responsibility, ICE cannot do the job effectively without assistance from state and local law enforcement, particularly when it comes to immigrant gangs.

# Failure to adequately control the U.S.-Mexico border and to deter illegal settlement in general undermines the progress ICE and local law enforcement agencies have made in disrupting criminal immigrant street gangs.

The MCAO report from County Attorney Andrew Thomas features these startling numbers for prosecuted felony cases in Maricopa County:

In 2007, illegal immigrants accounted for:

" 16.5% of those sentenced for violent crimes
" 18.5% of those sentenced for property crimes
" 33.5% of those sentenced for the manufacture, sale or transport of drugs
" 50% of those sentenced for crimes related to "chop shops"
" 35.8% of those sentenced for kidnapping
" 20.3% of those sentenced for felony DUI.

'We're heading for a recession': First minister to mention the 'R' word as government prepares for mass unemployment

Cabinet Minister Tony McNulty

'Let the cat out of the bag': Cabinet minister Tony McNulty has been criticised by the Treasury for daring to suggest Britain is heading for a recession

A Cabinet minister admitted for the first time yesterday that Britain is heading for a recession, amid signs the Government is braced for an economic downturn.

Tony McNulty became the first senior Government figure to use the "R" word, just days after he was promoted by Gordon Brown.

In a separate admission, his Cabinet colleague, Work and Pensions Secretary James Purnell, told Jobcentre staff to prepare for increases in unemployment queues.

Both Prime Minister and Alistair Darling have steadfastly refused to acknowledge that Britain's economy is now shrinking, despite mounting evidence that taxpayers face being squeezed by a sharp downturn next year.

Mr McNulty's willingness to describe the current crisis as a recession brought a pointed rebuke from the Treasury, which said "this is not a word we use".

But Tories said he had "let the cat out of the bag" and called on Mr Brown to "come clean" about the true state of the economy.

The former Police Minister, who was put in charge of employment and given the right to attend Cabinet meetings in last week's reshuffle, spoke out on BBC 2's Politics Show.

Speaking about Mr Brown's ambitious £500billion plan to save the banking system, Mr McNulty said: "The success of yesterday's announcements will be the precursor to how deep and how long the recession will be."

Asked if a recession was now inevitable, he said: "We're slowly getting to a stage where the slowdown may well turn technically into recession and then we'll be talking about the nature and depth of the recession."

Most British and international experts say Britain is already in a recession, which is defined as two consecutive quarters of negative economic growth.

In Colorado, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Nevada and North Carolina, eligible voters were taken off rolls, and new registrations were blocked, illegally.

WASHINGTON (AFP) - Tens of thousands of voters in at least six battleground states have been removed from election rolls or have been illegally blocked from registering to vote, according to an investigation by the New York Times published Thursday.

The anomalies, which are violations of US federal law, are largely bureaucratic mistakes in record keeping, and "do not seem to be coordinated by one party or the other, nor do they appear to be the result of election officials intentionally breaking rules," said the newspaper.

The states affected -- Colorado, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Nevada and North Carolina -- are among the most crucial states that could swing either way in the November 4 presidential election between Republican John McCain and Democrat Barack Obama.

While neither party appears to have been guilty of violations, the Democrats will most likely suffer the most because more Democratic voters have newly registered this year than Republicans.

As such, "the heightened screening of new applications may affect their party's supporters disproportionately," the newspaper reported.

The Times also suggested the problems could keep up until election day, when people who have been removed turn up and expect to vote "only to be challenged by political party officials or election workers, resulting in confusion, long lines and heated tempers."

The newspaper identified the root cause as the 2002 Help America Vote Act, which allows states to remove from the rolls names of voters who should no longer be listed because they are dead, have moved out of the state or have been declared unfit to vote.

"For every voter added to the rolls in the past two months in some states, election officials have removed two," the newspaper reported.

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), an influential association for civil rights, said in a statement Thursday that the Department of Justice should compel states to comply with federal law.

"These purges are in violation of federal law, including the National Voter Registration Act, which prohibits such purges of voters 90 days before a federal election," said the ACLU statement.
