U.S. Foreign Aid Endangers Israel's Survival

One of the greatest myths of our time has been that the State of Israel cannot survive without U.S. foreign aid. In reality, U.S. foreign aid is one of the greatest threats to Israel's very survival.

Israel receives $2.7 billion a year in military and economic aid from the United States. That represents only 3% of Israel's national annual budget. The claim that the Jewish State could not survive the loss of 3% of her budget is preposterous.

Moreover, U.S. foreign aid severely harms Israel in four different areas - economic, military, psychological and moral:

(1) - The economic harm.

A healthy economy cannot be built on handouts and charity. Giving welfare to a welfare recipient or giving drugs to a drug addict only hurts the individual. By creating dependence, the recipient loses his ability to be productive or useful.

What is true for individuals is also true for nations and societies.

If all U.S. foreign aid to Israel was cut off immediately, it would force the Jewish Sate to move more quickly away from the current socialist, government-controlled Israeli economy that is strangling Jewish talent, creativity and brainpower, toward a free market economy that would turn little Israel into a technological, scientific and economic powerhouse. Without U.S. subsidies, Israel would be forced to sell off and privatize her government-owned industries and companies, thereby unleashing a new era of private ownership and healthy free market competition.

(2) - The military harm.

Under U.S. law, Israel is not permitted to use her U.S. military aid to create and develop Israeli weapons. All of the military aid must be used to purchase weapons from U.S. arms manufacturers - who are in reality multinational corporations that happen to be headquartered in America. By forcing Israel to purchase her major weapons systems from the United States, this military "aid" cripples Israel's own advanced military industry.

If Israel were to develop her own weapons, by herself, it would save the Jewish State many billions of dollars. Furthermore, Israel currently cannot sell weapons that she develops without U.S. permission - which Washington usually refuses to give.

If Israel did not receive U.S. military aid and became militarily self-sufficient, the Jewish State would earn billions of dollars a year through international arms sales. There is little doubt that G-d-given Jewish brainpower would produce extremely effective, reliable and sophisticated weapons systems that would make little Israel much stronger and much more prosperous.

(3) - The psychological harm.

Left-wing Prime Minister Ariel Sharon - like all of his pathetic predecessors - has convinced Israeli Jews that Israel must do whatever America tells her to do. Israel cannot kill the Arab Hitler Yasser Arafat or destroy the Muslim terrorists because it will upset Washington. So over 1,500 innocent Israeli Jewish men, women and children had to be brutally murdered because eliminating the Islamic Nazi butchers would have made George W. (Wahabi) Bush angry.

Even though most Arabs in Yesha and in pre-1967 Israel would permanently leave the Jewish homeland if offered a lump sum payment, such a life-saving program would annoy Colin Powell, Condoleeza Rice and the New York Nazi Times. So we have to permit the Arabs - with their huge birth rate - to become the majority of Israel's population, rather than take action that might imperil our precious U.S. foreign "aid."

Under the leadership of self-hating Jews like Sharon, Binyamin Netanyahu, the Likud Party, the Marxist Labor Party and the rest of Israel's Establishment, Israel is not an independent nation but a groveling, trembling, cowardly little puppet of the White House. Even as Muslim terrorist Iran is close to developing nuclear bombs which the Teheran ayatollahs have promised to use to exterminate tiny Israel, the Jewish State does not destroy the Iranian nuclear program because Bush would not be happy.

On every front - economic, demographic, military, even nuclear - the insane Jews of Israel are literally committing national suicide out of fear that taking desperately needed action will mean an end to U.S. foreign aid. In the end, if there is another Holocaust, G-d forbid, it will be because the ghetto-minded Jews were so insanely devoted to pleasing Washington that they refused to take the elementary action necessary to protect their very existence.

(4) - The moral harm.

G-d created the Jewish people to be "a light unto the nations," "a holy nation" and "a nation of priests."

When little Israel wins miraculous victories against all odds, such as the 1967 Six Day War, it proves to the world that there is a G-d and that His Biblical prophecies are being fulfilled. This is known as kiddush HaShem (sanctification of G-d's name). However, when faithless, arrogant and self-hating Jews say that Israel won the war not because of G-d but because of U.S. foreign aid - as transparently ridiculous as that assertion is - it is chillul HaShem (desecration of G-d's name).

Rather than giving G-d the credit that He deserves, these wimpy Jews desperately try to find "practical" reasons for tiny Israel's miraculous and breathtaking triumphs.

When Israel is all alone - without any foreign aid - the credit for her survival and her victory must go to G-d. Thus, all foreign aid to the Jewish State is a sin, an abomination and a chillul HaShem which automatically leads to Heavenly punishment of both America and Israel.

In 1967, America cut off all arms shipments to Israel and warned the Jewish State not to strike preemptively against the huge Arab armies on her borders. Israel defied U.S. and world pressure, struck preemptively and ferociously, and won the most astonishing military victory that the world has seen since Biblical times. In only six days, tiny Israel - outnumbered 50 to 1 by the Arabs - quadrupled in size after liberating the Sinai, the Golan Heights, Judea, Samaria, the Gaza District and Jerusalem. And Israel won this unbelievable victory when the whole world - including the U.S. - was against her. This was truly kiddush HaShem.

The liar Ariel Sharon and the rest of the treasonous Israeli elite have convinced Jews that American foreign aid is "essential" to Israel's survival (Having promised repeatedly to the Israeli public that he would abide by a Likud referendum on his insane plan to surrender Israel's liberated lands to the PLO terrorists, Sharon is still trying to go through with it, despite the overwhelming objection of his own party)

However, ever since 1967, Israel has caved in to U.S. pressure and has been shrinking and weakening with every additional concession.

In the 1973 Yom Kippur War, Israel did not strike preemptively because of pressure from the Nixon-Kissinger Administration. Israel was nearly destroyed because of that insane decision.

Furthermore, Israel did not decisively win the Yom Kippur War because she again caved in to Nixon-Kissinger pressure to accept a premature ceasefire just as the Israeli army had surrounded and was about to destroy the invading Egyptian army. By being "practical" and not defying U.S. pressure, Israel turned the Yom Kippur War into a disaster.

When Israeli leaders fear mere mortals in the White House rather than fear G-d, it is chillul HaShem and automatically brings down Heavenly punishment on both America and Israel. Only a complete end to all U.S. foreign aid to Israel, and true Israeli independence and self-sufficiency, will reverse the present faithless, cowardly, defeatist policies of national suicide.

In conclusion, continued U.S. foreign aid and submission to U.S. pressure will guarantee far more Arab terrorism and mass murder without a real Jewish response; the collapse of the U.S.-subsidized socialist Israeli economy; the Arabs becoming a majority of Israel's population; and an Iranian nuclear terrorist attack on the tiny Jewish homeland, G-d forbid.

Only an independent and self-sufficient Israel - like the Israel of the 1967 Six Day War - can do what must be done to save herself from certain catastrophe, whether the world likes it or not.

DEBKAfile: Judge Winograd blames Lebanon War’s “great missed opportunity” on Israel’s government and its senior military command alike

Summing up the report the Lebanon War inquiry commission released Wednesday, Jan 30, chairman ex-justice Eliahu Winograd found grave failings in the management of the 34-day war of 2006 by the Israel’s political and military leadership alike. The war, declared after a Hizballah cross-border raid which kidnapped two Israeli reservists, Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser, claimed the lives of 119 Israeli soldiers and 45 civilians.

Although the Israeli army is the most powerful in the Middle East, said the judge, it failed to achieve a clear military victory or quell Hizballah rocket fire on the civilian population of northern Israel throughout the entire conflict.

The government was headed by Ehud Olmert and the army by chief of staff Dan Halutz and the general staff.

The panel chairman went on to say:

From July 18 to Aug 14, 2006, when a ceasefire went into effect, decision-making was devoid of strategic thinking. The failure to secure the civilian population and the army’s unreadiness for combat left only two options – a stunning strike or an extensive operation to alter the geopolitics of Lebanon.

The government and military command wasted a precious three weeks vacillating. To the very end, they never made up their mind which of the two to pursue. Meanwhile, Hizballah was able to shoot 3,970 short-range rockets undisturbed.

The decision to send in ground forces was dragged out for too long for the operation to exhaust its full potential, either militarily or diplomatically. While Israel did achieve certain diplomatic benefits [from the UN Security Council ceasefire resolution] those advantages were less than could have been achieved had the military provided better results.

The large-scale ground thrust of the last 60 days of the war was almost essential. The decision itself was not flawed but the policy-makers at the top [the prime minister, defense minister Amir Peretz and foreign minister Tzipi Livni] failed to follow through on the way the operation developed and its outcome. Therefore, this step failed to achieve its desired results and its gains were not available to support the hoped-for diplomatic outcome.

Judge Winograd stressed that the final report of 629 pages and the preliminary findings published last April were part of the same document. That report on the opening days of the war found that Olmert and his government had displayed poor decision-making skills and lack of judgment. Their decisions were not the result of a comprehensive, organized military plan. That report placed the primary responsibility for the war's failings at the door of the prime minister, defense [Amir Peretz] and the former Chief of Staff. The latter two later resigned.

While critical of government ministers and the military high command, the judge had high praise for the courage, devotion and willingness for sacrifice displayed by the soldiers in the field, especially the reservists; the Air Force’s achievement in knocking out Hizballah’s long-range missile on the second day of the war; and the Navy’s effective back-up for the Northern Command. UN Security Council Resolution 1701 was an achievement, even though many of its provisions were destined never to be fulfilled.

The judge concluded that the State of Israel will not survive unless its neighbors are convinced that its society is robust and governed by political and military leaders strong enough to make the right decisions for determining its fate.

Majority of Israelis – 73 pc - want Olmert to resign in face of negative Lebanon War panel report - Barak should go too, according to 63 pc polled

Israel’s political maelstrom climaxed for the publication Wednesday night, Jan. 30, of the Winograd inquiry commission’s final conclusions on the management of the Lebanon War of summer 2006. Israeli prime minister Ehud Olmert has been marshalling support against Lebanon War protesters’ push for his resignation.

The panel’s interim report last year seriously denigrated the performance of the prime minister, the defense minister, the rest of the cabinet and the top IDF command. Most of those named stepped down, excepting Ehud Olmert, who insists on staying on in the face of gathering popular demands for his resignation and a clean sweep of the national leadership.

The new defense minister, Labor leader Ehud Barak has gone on record as pledging to respond to a negative Winograd commission report by quitting government or calling for an early election. He has since amended this by saying he would do what was best for the country. In so doing, he has made himself a second target for the protesters.

Tuesday night, prime minister Ehud Olmert’s close adviser Finance Minister Ronnie Bar-On said that an early election was not on the cards.

California Disasters Continue—Why?

Catastrophic wildfires, multi-year droughts, out-of-control deficits. Why is this happening to the Golden State? The answer will surprise you. By Gerald Flurry

Wildfires raged out of control in Southern California for the third day Tuesday. With over a dozen fires burning, an estimated 1 million residents have been forced to flee their homes and two people have been killed. From mountains to coastline, more than 1,300 houses have gone up in flames, and Associated Press reports that “the destruction may only be the start for the region” (October 23).

“Faced with unrelenting winds whipping wildfires into a frenzy across Southern California, firefighters all but conceded defeat Tuesday,” reported AP (ibid.). In three days, the fires have burned more than 373,000 acres and prompted one of the biggest evacuations in California’s history. More than a third of a million households were ordered to evacuate in one county alone. President Bush has declared a federal emergency for seven counties.

These wildfires follow a devastating summer last year for California as well. A searing heat wave destroyed or badly damaged many California crops. The heat caused some of the crops to ripen early. Then the early crops caused a labor shortage, which intensified the disaster. California dairy farmers witnessed thousands of their cows die. They had to bury cows by the hundreds in mass graves. The industry was decimated.

Much of the United States has been suffering from abnormally dry or drought conditions, and other weather disasters. However, at this point, California appears to be suffering most of all.

This state often leads the way in U.S. disasters. Is there a reason? There is a mind-staggering hope embedded in California’s catastrophes. Nothing is more important for you to understand.

I wrote this about some California crises in our December 2003 Trumpet magazine:

California has just experienced another crisis. It has just seen its biggest outbreak of wildfire—it broke all past records. Some 750,000 acres were burned, about 3,600 homes destroyed and 20 lives lost.

Here is what U.S.News & World Report wrote about it: “Throughout the American West, trees already short of nutrients because of crowding are suffering from a four-year-old drought, the worst in 300 years. Bark beetles have attacked the weakened trees across much of the West, killing up to 70 percent of them in some areas. In San Bernardino National Forest, beetles have ravaged half a million acres so far. When fire does break out, the crowding allows flames to leap treetop to treetop in a fast-moving crown fire, as happened in parts of Southern California last week” (Nov. 10, [2003,] emphasis mine).

California had a six-year drought at the end of the 1980s. Now it has suffered through another multi-year drought.

That state also has a $38 billion deficit, the worst of any state in the United States. It cost a governor his job.

What is happening in California?

A decade earlier, in December 1993, I wrote this in a Trumpet article:

One disaster after another is striking California. These deadly disasters are repeatedly labeled the “worst ever”! … With all the disasters that have struck California the past few years, it’s as if the state is under a curse.

The recent fires in Southern California were their worst ever. One lady said, “[I]t was like the wrath of God.” …

These fires revealed an even greater crisis. Reports say 20 of the 26 fires were set by arsonists! The Los Angeles area is seething with all kinds of hatred—which is only a microcosm of the entire nation. In many areas of the U.S., racial hatred is ready to explode like the Southern California firestorm. And we no longer have the will to implement the strong government action that is needed! …

The Rodney King and Reginald Denny trials … inflamed racial tension. The 1992 Los Angeles race riots were that city’s worst ever. They were some of the deadliest riots in U.S. history! Others fear riots will also occur in their cities. [That is a justifiable fear.]

In 1991, wildfires in Oakland, California, destroyed 2,900 structures, and 25 people died from the fires. These fires were the worst ever in California! The state is now struggling with a budget deficit that is the worst ever—by far—that any American state has faced!

A six-year drought ended in 1991. It was the worst ever in California! That drought was followed by heavy rains and flooding which caused the heavy growth of grass, shrubbery and weeds that led to the dangerous fires.

Why is all this happening to California? I believe we must look more directly to the spiritual.

In an overt attack against Herbert W. Armstrong, in 1979 the state of California, through the attorney general’s office, launched a massive lawsuit against the Worldwide Church of God (from which the Philadelphia Church of God came). On January 3, that office initiated a sudden, armed assault on the Pasadena headquarters, in an attempt to claim ownership of the Church’s property and assets as well as its continuing income—in violation of the U.S. Constitution. A receiver, secretly appointed by the court, tried to take over and operate God’s Church. Completely false, outrageous and baseless allegations of financial mismanagement were made—despite financial and all other required records having been regularly and voluntarily filed. No evidence of wrongdoing was ever found, and on Oct. 15, 1980, the attorney general dropped all charges and dismissed the case. Later, the higher appellate court ruled that the lawsuit was without foundation.

California is the only state that ever attacked Mr. Armstrong and his work. Actually, it attacked a lot more than that. California really attacked the living God! It also attacked its only hope—a hope beyond what mankind can even imagine!

Could such an unjustified attack by the state have anything to do with California’s problems in the last several years? It certainly does, and you need to know why.

DEBKAfile: Much of southern Israel closed to civilian traffic, US and Israeli bases on high alert for Hamas incursions from Sinai

Most highways of the southern Negev - which adjoins the Egyptian Sinai frontier - were ordered shut to civilian traffic early Saturday, Jan. 26, until further notice. This is Israel’s most extensive terror alert ever, DEBKAfile’s military sources report. The big Israeli and American air and military bases in the region are on high terror alert and officers’ families are being removed to central Israel, following intelligence warnings that Hamas, Jihad Islami and al Qaeda are preparing to launch suicide operations across the porous Egyptian border from N. Sinai.

Israeli military forces have spread out across the southern region, checkpoints set up on the highways, lookout positions posted, and helicopters and drones are on constant surveillance.

DEBKAfile’s sources in the south report that Eilat, Israel’s southernmost town and Red Sea port is not entirely cut off; the eastern Highway 90 is open to traffic although Highway 10 which follows the Egyptian Sinai frontier is closed.

So too are 221 and 222 and parts of Routes 40 and 12. Israeli units have been deployed to block off to terrorist access to the southern towns of Eilat, Mitzpeh Ramon, Kfar Yeruham, Beersheba, Arad and the villages and military installations located in the Negev and Aravah regions. Popular tourist nature reserves and beauty spots are closed.

The latest intelligence input speaks of an ingathering in Sinai of al Qaeda cells from Egypt and other parts of the Middle East. They are heading for the Egyptian-Israel frontier, which Egyptian border forces have abandoned to focus on the anarchy on the Gaza-Egyptian border Hamas generated by knocking down the border wall. One-third of Gaza’s 1.5 million Palestinian inhabitants has flooded into N. Sinai in a disorderly exodus.

DEBKAfile’s counter-terror sources disclose an ominous symptom: Al Qaeda has appointed an “emir” for the Gaza Strip, the customary military commander appointed when the jihadist group goes into operational mode.

They can't stem the flood

Saturday, Jan.4, they tore across the border in hundreds of vehicles for the first time. On the fourth day of the mass Palestinian exodus from Gaza, Egyptian foreign minister Abdullah Gheit appealed to “our Palestinian brothers” not to abuse Cairo’s hospitality as Egyptian police strove to prevent the tide slipping south. Friday night, Hamas bulldozed another section of the Gaza-Sinai border wall against Egyptian efforts to seal it. Some three quarters–of-a million have so far swarmed through.

DEBKAfile’s counter-terror sources report that the flood of shoppers masks intense efforts by the Palestinian terrorist Hamas, Jihad Islami, Fatah-Al Aqsa Brigades, the Popular Resistance Committees as well as al Qaeda to establish a base in northern Sinai. They don’t see anyone stopping them.

Restoring the border, Western military experts have told DEBKAfile, would require the deployment of 30,000 Egyptian troops to the El Arish area and divided Rafah Gaza border, backed by air force, navy and armored units.

This would contravene the Egyptian-Israeli peace treaty. But even if this obstacle could be overcome, Cairo would never on any account let itself be drawn into battle with Palestinians in view of the catastrophic impact it would have on President Hosni Mubarak’s standing at home and the Arab world. For now, the Egyptian army lacks strength on this order and would have to call up reserves.

By Friday night, it was clear that the Palestinian terrorists and al Qaeda would not voluntarily quit northern Sinai in the foreseeable future.

Hamas and its allies have broken the Israeli siege of Gaza. In so doing, a bunch of terrorist groups has acquired control of a chunk of northern Sinai twice the size of the Gaza Strip as well as a safe haven against Israeli reprisals for their cross-border attacks. A Western military source says the terrorists have laid the foundations of a “Palestinian Waziristan.”

At best, Mubarak might persuade the Gazan invaders to accept a power-sharing arrangement over the lost Egyptian enclave.

Early Thursday, Jan. 24, American forces and equipment withdrew from the Multi-force Organization base at Al Gura northeast of al Arish when they learned from Egyptian contacts that Hamas had begun moving some of its elite units into the new stronghold. Washington and Cairo are discussing evacuating the entire base and its 400 multinational personnel, which monitors Sinai’s demilitarization under the Egypt-Israel peace treaty, for fear of Hamas and al Qaeda missile fire and shelling of the base.

The 2008 Presidential Election Disaster

Unless real conservatives wake up and act now, we will face an unmitigated disaster in the 2008 Presidential election - not from Hillary Clinton or other left-wing Democrats, but from left-wing Republicans who are quickly taking over the Grand Old Party (GOP).

According to polls and pundits, the frontrunners for the 2008 Republican Presidential nomination are former Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Arizona Senator John McCain, two notorious leftists whose positions on the issues are identical to those of the left-wing Democrats.

A third possible contender who is being seriously mentioned is Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, another hardcore establishment leftist.
